L1 is the higher of the two security levels used for Aadhaar-registered biometric devices. In the MFS110, fingerprint capture and encryption happen inside the scanner itself, with hardware-based RSA 2048 key generation, AES-GCM-256 and SHA-256 support, and secure memory with key wrapping. The scanner carries STQC and FBI PIV image-quality compliance, and its ISO 19794-2 minutiae output works with standard biometric applications.
Mantra MFS100 vs MFS110: which one should you buy
Many buyers still search for the MFS100, so the difference is worth stating plainly. The MFS100 is an L0 device. The MFS110 is an L1 device. UIDAI has moved Aadhaar authentication to L1 devices, which means an MFS100 can no longer be used for Aadhaar-based services. Drivers, RD Service and setup

Once the driver and RD Service are installed, the scanner works as a plug-and-play USB device.
