What is a UHF Integrated Reader?

A UHF integrated reader is a self-contained RFID reading device that combines reader electronics and a built-in antenna in a single compact housing. Unlike separate reader and external antenna setups, integrated readers are easier to install, require less cabling, and are ideal for space-constrained or single-direction deployments. Operating in the 860–960 MHz UHF frequency band, these readers capture multiple RFID tags simultaneously from distances of 6 to 20+ metres — making them the standard hardware for vehicle identification, warehouse gate management, parking systems, and industrial access control across India.

Read range in practice

Metal surfaces, water, the angle of the tag and tinted windscreens all cut the range. A sensible habit is to pick a reader one step above the distance you need, then fix the mounting height and tilt with a sample tag before any drilling. In India, UHF RFID equipment for open use works in the 865 to 867 MHz band, so confirm that the model you order is set for it.

Linear or circular antenna: which to pick

(8 dBi), CR33 and CR33L (9 dBi). They suit parking lanes and open areas where tags end up at different angles. Linear readers push a narrower, longer beam down one path. These are the CR06 and CR20 (9 dBi) and the CR32 series (12 dBi, the highest gain listed among the integrated models). They suit a single-lane gate where every tag is mounted the same way.
